Ex-Husband Charged in Killing of Ohio Couple
Michael David McKee, 39, has been charged with two counts of murder following the deaths of an Ohio couple last month.
Monique Tepe, 39, and Spencer Tepe, 37, were found fatally shot in their Columbus home on Dec. 30. Their two young children, ages 4 and 1, were unharmed and are now in the care of extended family.
Authorities arrested McKee on Saturday, Jan. 10, after a warrant was issued earlier that day. He was booked in Winnebago County shortly before noon and will remain in custody until being extradited to Franklin County. A court hearing is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 12.

The Tepes’ deaths came to light after Spencer’s co-workers and a friend grew concerned when he missed work and could not be reached for hours. In 911 call recordings obtained by PEOPLE, a friend outside the home said he could hear the children crying inside.
Columbus police released surveillance footage showing a hooded figure near the couple’s home around the estimated time of the killings. Using neighborhood video and vehicle tracking, investigators linked the vehicle seen in the footage to McKee. Police say evidence shows he had possession of the car before and after the homicides.

The Franklin County Coroner’s Office reported that the apparent cause of death for both Monique and Spencer was gunshot wounds. Official causes are pending toxicology and additional investigations.
Family members described the couple as warm, kind, and deeply committed to each other and their loved ones. Spencer’s brother-in-law, Rob Misleh, said in a statement, “They were extraordinary people whose lives were filled with love, joy, and deep connection to others. We are heartbroken beyond words. We are committed to seeing this tragedy fully and fairly brought to justice.”
A GoFundMe has been established to support the Tepes’ two children.
