Nikki Glaser didn’t hold back at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, taking aim at both politics and the network hosting the ceremony.

The comedian, 41, returned to host the Globes for a second consecutive year on Sunday, Jan. 11, at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. In her opening monologue, Glaser delivered sharp jabs at the Trump administration’s recent redactions of Epstein files, as well as controversial editorial shifts at CBS News that have stirred internal debate.

“I cannot believe the amount of star power we have in this room tonight. It’s insane,” Glaser quipped. “By A-list, I do mean a list that has been heavily redacted. And the Golden Globe for Best Editing goes to the Justice Department. Yes. Congratulations.”

She didn’t stop there. “And the award for most editing goes to CBS News,” Glaser continued, earning big laughs and applause. “Yes, CBS News, America’s newest place to see BS news. We needed another.”

Her commentary comes just days after Tony Dokoupil began hosting CBS Evening News, making him the sixth anchor in the last decade, and weeks after CBS pulled a planned 60 Minutes segment on Venezuelan men deported to a notorious El Salvador prison under the Trump administration. CBS News has been navigating significant changes, including Skydance’s $8 billion acquisition of parent company Paramount and the hiring of Bari Weiss—known for running The Free Press—as editor in chief despite limited experience leading a major news outlet.

Glaser also poked fun at celebrity attendees, including Leonardo DiCaprio. “He’s nominated for one man bun after another instead of One Battle After Another, and the most impressive thing is you’ve accomplished all that before your girlfriend turned 30,” she said, referencing DiCaprio, 51, and his 27-year-old Italian model girlfriend, Vittoria Ceretti.

Glaser made her Globes debut in 2025 and described it as “without a doubt the most fun I have ever had in my career,” making her return this year highly anticipated. “There’s lots to joke about this year — and the star power is going to be bigger than ever,” she told PEOPLE on Jan. 2. “I kind of have to keep wrapping my head around the kind of people that are going to be present in this room.”

The 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards aired live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+ at 8 p.m. EST from the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
