A family in Tennessee is breathing a huge sigh of relief after enduring what every parent dreads most.
Amanda Leigh Ennis of Nashville thought she was simply dropping off her 3-year-old son, Noah Clare, at his dad’s house for the weekend. She had no idea that her ex, Jake Clare, was planning something far more sinister—kidnapping Noah and fleeing the state. Alarm bells rang when a concerned family member called Amanda, confirming her worst fear: her little boy might be gone for good.
The call revealed that Jake had taken Noah along with his 16-year-old cousin, Amber. The teens had left behind a note saying they were “going on an adventure,” leaving their family terrified and clueless about where they had gone. “I was shaking. I was sick. I was mad. I was confused. I was scared. Is he really doing this?” Amanda recalled. “Maybe he doesn’t have service? Maybe his phone died? All those questions were answered with lies I knew weren’t true. Am I ever going to see my baby again?”
Authorities quickly issued an Amber Alert, and for 13 agonizing days, Amanda and her family lived in constant fear, wondering if they would ever see Noah again. It seemed as if Jake and the children had vanished without a trace—until a total stranger hundreds of miles away spotted them.
Julia Bonin of Orange County, California, was on her way to drop her son off at school when she noticed Noah, Amber, and Jake near Doheny State Park in Dana Point. She had seen the Amber Alert online and felt a strong gut instinct that the boy she saw was Noah. After dropping off her son, Julia circled back and called the police. “My heart was pounding. I had a strong feeling it was him, but I was questioning my instincts. I was starting to shake,” Julia said.
Her instincts proved to be exactly right. Police quickly caught up to the group, safely recovering Noah and Amber while taking Jake into custody. He now faces serious charges back in Tennessee.
Amanda immediately booked a flight to California, eager to embrace her son and thank Julia for her quick thinking. “That angel. She is our hero,” Amanda wrote on Facebook. “God led her to Noah. She is the most beautiful, sweet, and loving person who will forever be part of our lives. She was able to find Noah because of all of YOU! Social media is amazing.”

In videos shared online, the little boy can be seen running into his mother’s arms, as she breaks down in tears of pure joy and relief. Amanda said that moment—having Noah back in her arms—was the second greatest of her life, right after the day he was born.
