Patrick Mahomes Drops from No. 2 to Out of the Top 10 in NFL Jersey Sales for 2025

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has claimed the No. 1 spot in NFL jersey sales, while Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs No. 15 jersey has seen a steep decline following a challenging season.

The three-time Super Bowl champion had held the No. 2 position in 2024, just behind Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles. But in 2025, Mahomes dropped 20 spots to No. 22, falling behind Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and just ahead of Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, according to the NFL Shop’s Jan. 9 update.

Meanwhile, former No. 6 seller Josh Allen now tops the list, with New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye stepping into Mahomes’ previous second-place position. The rest of the top 10 includes San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Barkley, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and three of Warner’s 49ers teammates: running back Christian McCaffrey, tight end George Kittle, and quarterback Brock Purdy. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, the 2025 Super Bowl MVP, rounds out the 11th spot.

Mahomes’ drop comes after a tough year on and off the field. In February, he and the Chiefs were defeated by Barkley and the Eagles in the 2025 Super Bowl. Hoping to bounce back the following season, Mahomes and the team fell short of the playoffs, and in a critical final game, he suffered a torn ACL. He immediately underwent surgery and is currently rehabbing, aiming to return in time for Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season.

On Jan. 5, Mahomes shared a cryptic Instagram post showing one photo of him walking off the field with his helmet low and another of him celebrating a touchdown in the end zone. Chiefs’ vice president of sports medicine and performance Rick Burkholder said on Dec. 17 that Mahomes’ recovery is expected to take roughly nine months, putting him on track to return for the season opener on Sept. 10.

“Every player is different. Every sport is different. Every position is different,” Burkholder told ESPN, adding that Mahomes “is so in tune with what he does, he does it a little quicker.”
